Well, first of all, weed out the photos taken THROUGH the bubble. That is, where the bubble is between the camera and the bubble person. Because, although the bubble may be perfectly big, it's way in front of the person, so you really can't tell HOW big the bubble is. Instead, look for photos where the bubble and bubble person are SIDE BY SIDE. Our home page at http://bubblething.com shows examples of BOTH kinds of photos. The bottom photo showing "A 35-foot soap bubble!" side-by-side with me, the bubble man, is the best of the four photos, for showing how big the bubble is. The right-hand photo with the five boys is a great photo, which is why we use it, but since the bubble is in front of the boy, you really can't tell how big the bubble is. Three feet in diameter? Six feet in diameter? See what I mean? (Probably five feet, because the bubble is irregular. The bigger the bubble, the more irregular, that is, less spherical, it is likely to be. There's a scientific reason for this; the bigger the bubble, the lower the surface tension, and the less the tendency to pull together into a perfect sphere.)

Especially weed out any photos that don't show the bubble person. The bubble person acts as kind of a "yard stick" for measuring the bubble. If it's an adult five or six feet tall releasing a bubble about the same height, then you know it's five or six feet high.

Now that we know some simple rules for weeding out bubble photos, let's look at http://extremebubbles.com/media_pictures.html. (Full disclosure: Extreme Bubbles is a competitor of our company, Bubble Thing.) How big are the Extreme Bubbles bubbles? Mostly, you can't tell, because: A. The bubble is in front of the bubble person, or; B. The bubble person isn't shown. And when you CAN tell, the bubbles look pretty small---certainly nothing like what you see at http://bubblething.com. There's no comparison.

And by the way, our Bubble Thing Big Bubble Mix costs only one third as much per gallon as Extreme Bubbles Big Bubble Mix. As for the Extreme Bubbles World's Largest Bubble claim (a rare error by the Guinness Record company), compare any of their bubbles with the genuine giant bubbles below.

Let's look at some of the biggest (and most beautiful) bubbles ever blown. Here's Sterling Johnson in his popular Stinson Beach video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i-zYdOPG2k Sterling is using a giant two-stick design derived by Alan McKay of New Zealand from the original giant bubble toy, the Bubble Thing. You can see bubble performers using different home-made versions of Alan's two-stick design all over YouTube. Sometimes the sticks are dowels, sometimes they are banner poles, sometimes they are fishing poles as tall as sixteen feet. The bubble-forming loops are usually braided string or exotic fabrics like rayon or bamboo. The soap recipes are complex; you can get an idea of this at http://soapbubble.wikia.com/wiki/Recipes and if you aren't confused and daunted, you should be. The bubble professionals posting at Soap Bubble Wiki are the most expert performers in the world; they have been tinkering with their recipes for years; they have bothered to locate hard-to-find ingredients, and are willing to weigh, cook, cool, cure, and age them. Also, they know their bubble weather, and these spectacular giant bubble videos are taken at optimum conditions---cool, calm, overcast days with humidity close to 100%.

So, if you're not a bubble expert, we suggest you buy the Bubble Thing at http://bubblething.com. Be contented for now with 10- and 20-foot bubbles! Our Big Bubble Mix comes FREE in the Bubble Thing package! And it's the easiest mix in the world. Just add water and dish soap, stir and go. After you're handy with Bubble Thing, try our Bubble Thing Deluxe (see photo above). It makes 50-foot bubbles!
